Building Better Futures (BBF) is a comprehensive job readiness development program that has been specifically designed to offer an alternative to violence for disadvantaged adults to help forge a new direction for their lives and further their education by providing construction training, experience and credentials that are in demand by many prime contractors working on government and private sector projects.
We are proud to announce that we received grants for the Chatham and Auburn Gresham communities.
Black Americans are disproportionately impacted by gun violence. They experience 12 times the gun homicides, 18 times the gun assault injuries, and nearly 3 times the fatal shootings.
Our mission is to close the knowledge gap and equip at-risk communities
with the education and knowledge they need to truly change their lives and to
make dramatic financial impacts that improve their standard of living and quality
of life.

We understand the impact COVID-19 has had on violence in the Chatham and Auburn Gresham communities. With the closure of many programs and resources, members of the community were often left to fend for themselves. During the COVID and George Floyd era, unrest and looting was at an all-time high on parts of Chicago's South Side. Our violence prevention program will help to mitigate the negative effects of COVID in the Chatham and Auburn Gresham communities by assisting individuals disproportionately impacted by the pandemic and firearm violence.

Building Better Futures will provide several elements to provide supportive wrap around services along with basic construction training to individuals between the ages of 18-35 who are seeking a mean by which they can gain a better hold on their lives through remedial training, supportive services and job training.
Specifically our program delivers:
-
Mental health support: The COVID-19 pandemic has had a profound impact on people's mental health, and violence prevention services can provide critical support to those who are struggling with stress, anxiety, and depression. By offering counseling and therapy services, we can help participants and families manage the emotional toll of the pandemic.
-
Financial Empowerment: The COVID-19 pandemic has led to significant financial hardship for many individuals and families, which can increase the risk of violence. Violence prevention programs like ours can provide financial assistance and support to help individuals and families manage their finances, which also reduces the risk of violence.
-
Support for at-risk populations: The COVID-19 pandemic has had a disproportionate impact on certain populations, such as low-income families and communities of color. Violence prevention services can provide targeted support to these populations, helping to mitigate the negative effects of the pandemic and reduce the risk of violence.
-
Education & training: Our program also plays an important role in educating individuals and providing information on how they can stay safe and protect themselves from gun violence. By disseminating information and providing resources, we help to reduce fear and confusion in the community.

The program will help build stronger, more cohesive communities by providing opportunities for individuals to come together, share their experiences, and support one another. This can help mitigate the isolation and loneliness that many people are feeling as a result of the violence in their communities. Through a comprehensive and evidence-based approach, we will provide critical support and resources to those who are affected by gun violence. We help them understand the root causes of violence, promote mental health and wellness, provide supportive wrap around services, assist in educating on fundamental areas but most of all we deliver employment solutions to help to them build a better future!
